A room is 4 m long and 3 m wide. How many square tiles measuring 0.5 m by 0.5 m are needed to cover the floor?

Correct answer: C. 48

The floor area is 4 × 3 = 12 m², and each tile covers 0.5 × 0.5 = 0.25 m². So 12 ÷ 0.25 = 48 tiles. Equivalently, 8 tiles fit along the length and 6 along the width: 8 × 6 = 48.
