National Economy and Patrimony (Article XII) MCQs

Civil Service Exam reviewer on Article XII of the Constitution: classification of public lands, natural resources, Filipino ownership rules, public utilities, Filipino First, cooperatives and the central monetary authority.

20 MCQsUpdated 3 November 2026

Article XII of the 1987 Constitution sets the economic rules of the Republic: who may own land, who may develop natural resources, how much foreign ownership is allowed in public utilities and other areas, and the policy of giving preference to Filipino labour and goods. It also provides for the central monetary authority, now the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

Many questions turn on numbers, such as the 60 percent Filipino ownership requirement, the 25-year terms and the land area limits. Learn them together with the reason behind each rule: protecting the national patrimony for Filipinos while allowing development.
